Clark interviews writer, podcast host, and pop culture expert Ira Madison III (co-host of “Keep It”). Clark reveals Ira was one of the first people he called when he was developing Soul Balm. Clark asks Ira about growing up in Wisconsin, and Ira shares that he was one of the only Black kids in his school. Clark and Ira discuss his unique career path, which began at NYU. Ira shares that becoming a pop culture writer was born out of necessity, and details the hardships that accompanied that transition. Clark and Ira discuss what it means to both comment on the culture as a critic, and be part of it as a creator. Clark and Ira share their experiences with social anxiety. Finally, Ira shares what is currently healing his mind, body and spirit—his Soul Balm.
